About
Vienna, 1889
The original Klepner's Jewellery was founded in 1889 in Vienna by Samuel Klepner. The business flourished, and passed to Samuel's son Ignas after his retirement.
The Nazi Threat
To escape the rising Nazi threat in 1933, the Klepner family migrated to Melbourne, Australia, bringing with them whatever they could.
The Victoria Hotel
Ignas established the new Klepner's Jewellery in 1938 on the ground floor of the historic Victoria Hotel before passing the business to his son Frank in 1950.
324 Little Collins Street
Frank Klepner retired in 1977, passing the business to Ronnie Bower who in 1999 moved the store to its current location on Little Collins Street and continues to build the Klepner legacy.
